We are excited for all the new changes coming to the Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge, and Ram brands. With so many great things to look forward to, our Gloucester customers have questions about what's new for 2021 and 2022.
With the release of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, the only plug-in hybrid minivan on the market right now, there are questions about this new technology and whether it fits in with our drivers' lifestyles. There is also a push to electrify the Jeep® brand models with the release of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and plans to offer three more plug-in hybrid models in the next couple of years with the larger goal of providing a plug-in hybrid for every Jeep brand model.
Q: What is Stellantis?
A: Stellantis is the parent company that now owns the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, and RAM bands along with ten other auto brands worldwide. The new name came into effect just this year, but will not change the names of your favorite vehicles.
What is new for Chrysler in 2021?
A: This year, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is available. Not only do you have the option for a plug-in hybrid minivan, but there is a new updated full-color touchscreen that is five times faster than the old system. Additionally, there is the new available interior camera called FamCAM™, so you can keep an eye on your loved ones, even the ones all the way in the back. All the connected features like wireless Apple CarPlay®, SiriusXM® with 360L, Android Auto™, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Alexa built-in, and Uconnect® Market are even faster with the updated system.
Q: What is new for Jeep® brand this year?
A: This year marks a new generation of rugged and capable electrified vehicles with the release of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The 4xe label means that the vehicle is a plug-in hybrid. Now, with the power of an electric motor boosting the gas engine, you will have more power, range, and savings at the gas pump.
Q: What is new for Dodge this year?
A: This year, the big buzz is all about the all-new 2021 Dodge Durango. The Dodge Durango finally gets a facelift for a more aggressive style and enhanced performance features to go along with the new image. The SRT® Hellcat version makes it a muscle SUV with incredible performance and towing capability. Thanks to the powerful Supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® SRT Hellcat V8 engine, it produces an incredible 710-horsepower, 645-pounds-feet of torque, and a towing capacity of up to 8,700-pounds.
Q: What is PHEV?
A: PHEV stands for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. This type of engine allows you to charge the electric battery for extra power so that you can run off the electric engine or boost the power of the gas engine. This means lower emissions and greater range on a fill-up.
Q: How do I charge a PHEV?
A: Charging your plug-in hybrid is as easy as charging your cellphone. You can use the included charging cable to plug into a regular outlet in your home or garage. We have also partnered with Amazon to provide professional instillation of a Level 2 charger which will speed up your charging speeds similar to the quick-charging public charging stations.
Q: Will RAM stop selling heavy-duty pickup trucks and off-road vehicles?
A: No. The backbone of the RAM brand is made up of high-performance and emissions-heavy gas-guzzling trucks because they offer powerful engines and incredible performance. However, the CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, says the technology exists to electrify vehicles like the RAM 1500 while providing the powerful torque, dynamics, and acceleration drivers love while also cutting down on emissions. Electric technology has come a long way and can offer even greater performance for your favorite heavy-duty and off-road vehicles. There are even plans in the works to unveil a new mid-size pickup truck this year. This is something we can all get excited about.
