If you need a truck that can haul a woodchipper or pull an RV to Camp Cardinal RV Resort near Gloucester, get a 2024 Ram 2500. This heavy-duty truck has plenty of muscle for chores, but it also has a spacious, well-appointed cab to relax in. The new Chevy Silverado 2500 and Ford F-250 Super Duty are also capable, heavy-duty pickups, but they don’t provide the full package that you get with the Ram 2500. Quinn Motors put together the following comparison of these three trucks to explain why.
Performance & Capability
Standard Horsepower
You’ll want a truck with a brawny engine if you wish to tow large trailers in Norfolk. The 2024 Ram 2500 comes with a 6.4-liter V8 engine that produces 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The Ram 2500’s optional Cummins turbodiesel motor puts out 850 pound-feet of torque.
The new Chevy Silverado 2500’s standard V8 engine only generates 401 horsepower. Stronger motors are available, but you must pay more to get them.
The new Ford F-250 Super Duty’s base V8 engine only makes 405 horsepower. As with the Silverado 2500, burlier engines are optional, but at a steeper price.
Standard Towing Capacity
The main reason you get a heavy-duty truck is for pulling campers, boats, or implements. Hampton drivers will appreciate that the 2024 Ram 2500 can tow more than 17,000 pounds when equipped with its base gas engine.
A Chevy Silverado 2500 truck that has the standard gas motor can only tow up to 14,500 pounds.
A Ford F-250 Super Duty truck equipped with its gas-powered base engine has a towing capacity of just 14,000 pounds.
Interior
Seating Space and Cab Comfort
The 2024 Ram 2500 is available in Regular, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab body styles with seating for three to six people. Taller passengers in Williamsburg will like that the Mega Cab has more than 40 inches of rear legroom.
The new Chevy Silverado 2500’s most voluminous cab has just 35.24 inches of rear legroom.
The new Ford F-250 Super Duty Super Cab only offers 33.5 inches of rear legroom.
Available Tech Features
The 2024 Ram 2500 offers an available 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster to go along with its optional 12-inch infotainment touchscreen. Yorktown drivers will appreciate the Ram 2500’s available digital rearview mirror, which shows a video feed of what’s behind the truck without passengers’ heads or cargo getting in the way.
The new Chevy Silverado 2500’s biggest infotainment touchscreen is just eight inches long. The Silverado 2500 doesn’t offer a digital rearview mirror.
The new Ford F-250 Super Duty offers a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen on higher trims, but a digital rearview mirror is unavailable.
Off-Road Capability
The 2024 Ram 2500 is available in an off-road-oriented Power Wagon trim. Available only in the Crew Cab body style, the Power Wagon comes with four-wheel drive, a disconnecting front anti-roll bar, electronic locking front/rear differentials, and a specialized Bilstein suspension. With up to 14.2 inches of ground clearance, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon can drive over almost any obstacle it encounters in the Gloucester area.
The Chevy Silverado 2500 does not have an off-road trim. Its Z71 off-road package includes an upgraded suspension, skid plates, and hill descent control.
The new Ford F-250 Super Duty offers a Tremor off-road package that includes a raised suspension, under-body protection, and 35-inch all-terrain tires, but it doesn’t provide as much capability as the Ram 2500 Power Wagon.
The new Ram 2500 is a heavy-duty truck with a nice interior and immense capability for work or play in Gloucester. Visit Quinn Motors and test drive a Ram 2500 pickup today.
